The new book “The Art of the Sea” created by the team of Laine Publishing @laine_magazine celebrates the playful and tender world of the Moomins imagined by Tove Jansoon: their creator has not only given us these unforgettable characters, but also a philosophy of life: the courage to be yourself, the joy of camaraderie, and the quiet beauty of nature’s rhythms.
With 23 patterns created by 18 international designers, this beautiful book translates the atmosphere of Moomin Valley into knitwear: clothes and accessories that convey the warmth of Moominmamma’s hugs, the wit of Little My, the independence of Snufkin, and the salty breeze of the North Sea.

We are very happy be part of this inspiring project with the “Painter” pattern created by the designer Kaori Katsurada @kao_knit: when she was a student, she discovered Tove Jansson’s works beyond the Moomins, as well as photographs by Tove herself. Kaori was particularly drawn to the jacket that Tove often wore, a piece much loved by painters, with a sailor-style collar.

The “Painter” sweater translates this memory into a lightweight sweater that is easy to wear every day, available in two versions: one with long sleeves in Ulysse “poivre blanc” and the other with short sleeves in Candide “nougat”.
The 2 × 2 ribbing adds a classic touch, while the soft raglan shape evokes a subtle Moomin charm. A single button allows for an open nautical look when undone. Painter can also be personalized with Moomin embroidery.
