“Pêche de vigne”, “colchique” et “goyave” – three new colours for Gilliatt and Ulysse!

I’m delighted to be able to share with you the three new colours of our Ulysse and Gilliatt woolen spun yarns, made from our much-loved Arles merino!

Swatches from left to right: Ulysse “pêche de vigne” knitted with Bérénice “prune”,  Ulysse “colchique” knitted with Bérénice “lilas”,  Ulysse “goyave” knitted with Bérénice “pêche dorée”

For the start of the new season, I fancied some soft, indulgent shades, so I decided to develop two shades of pink-violet of varying intensity and a very soft orange: cheerful, comforting colours for a time when we could all do with a bit of that 🙂

For these mottled colours, the wool is first dyed as fleece in various colours; then, after adding undyed natural wool for the ‘colchique’ shade, it is thoroughly blended in the carding machine before being spun.

“Pêche de vigne (Vine Peach)” is a rich, intense violet-pink, cooler and less saturated than “confiture de rose”. It can be combined with the Bérénice shades “prune”, “merlot”, “figue” or “confiture de rose” to create subtle shades and tones.

« Colchique (Autumn crocus) » is a tender, light violet-pink. It is created using the same colour blend as ’pêche de vigne”, to which undyed ecru wool has been added. The mottled effect is particularly noticeable in this colour and gives it a very warm, rustic feel. It can be paired with  Bérénice “lilas” or “tutu” shades for a tone-on-tone effect.

« Goyave (guava) » is a very soft coral orange, made up of a blend of bright and dark oranges and the very pale pink of “quartz” It’s a cheerful yet subtle colour that instantly brings a smile to your face 🙂 It can be knitted in double strands with Bérénice “pêche dorée” for a soft blended effect.

I hope you’ll love these new colours and that they’ll inspire you to create projects that’ll make you feel good 🙂
