We are delighted to share with you this new collaboration with designer Yuka Tomioka @yety_knits! “Tiny Harvest Shawl“ is an adorable mini shawl that Yuka designed after discovering our Alice yarn, made from Arles merino wool and linen, which inspired her to create light, botanical patterns.
«When I first touched the yarn ‘Alice’, I was struck by how natural and soft it was. It’s also unique thanks to the linen fibers that add texture and nuance. At the same time, its rusticity reminded me of the beauty of nature and the life in the countryside. I tried to render all these inspirations with delicate lace patterns.”
Yuka Tomioka
With its narrow shape and delicate border, this shawl wraps easily around the neck, stays in place, and makes a perfect gift, full of delicacy!

CONSTRUCTION
This half-moon shawl begins in the center with 2 stitches. The number of stitches increases rapidly with the addition of yarn overs, which give it its width and beautiful drape.
After a short section in garter stitch, sections of different laced and textured stitches follow one another, making the knitting enjoyable and rhythmic. The shawl is finished with a border doubled by a Picot bind-off, which gives it flexibility and a delicate finish.

TECHNIQUES USED AND SKILL LEVEL
This pattern is intermediate level and requires to know how to knit Garter tab cast-on, knitting lace, increasing and decreasing, Picot bind-off.
It includes charts and written instructions for the motifs parts and video tutorial for the Garter tab cast-on.

YARN CHOICE
Yuka has declined this pattern in two different yarns:
- in a Fingering weight version with our Alice yarn (75% Organic merino d’Arles (France) and 25% linen (France and Belgium), with a 23 sts x 38 rows gauge (in leaf panel pattern on 4 mm / US 6 needles, after blocking). This very soft worsted blend of Arles merino wool and linen gives the fabric a beautiful drape and definition, with a slightly mottled appearance due to the linen fibers, which do not take dye in the same way as wool.
- in a Sport weight version with our Ulysse yarn (100% Arles Merino (France) and black merino (Portugal) woollen ; 185 m / 50 g), with a 20 sts x 36 rows (in leaf panel pattern on 4 mm / US 6 needles, after blocking. Ulysse provides a soft texture and comforting warmth that will make this shawl the perfect winter companion.
