“Rabastens” top in Antigone by Marianne Munier

When we shared Antigone‘s new spring colours with designer Marianne Munier, she immediately started doodling and sampling, and came back to present us with the pretty, delicate top that these colours inspired, and the magic of knitting began!

Rabastens” is a little summer top with a comfortable, slightly boxy cut, very comfortable to wear with its v-neckline and delicate lace detailing at the bottom.

CONSTRUCTION

It is knitted in one piece from the bottom to the top, starting in the round with the lace part, then going back and forth for the front and back yoke, creating short rows for the slope of the shoulders, and designing the V-neck. The stitches on the armholes and neckline are then picked up for the single rib finish.

SKILLS LEVEL

This pattern includes some slightly technical points, such as working with lace, short rows and picking up the stitches with a yarn without elasticity, which require a little experience and are suitable for an intermediate level of knitting.

We chose to shorten our sample a little (6 cm/ 2.5″) for a very summery, easy-to-wear version with a high waist. Céline is wearing the pattern in size 40 in the colour ‘hellébore‘ and Marianne is wearing it in a superb ‘jardin‘ version in size 52!
