Luxury, softness, delicacy… we wanted to see what Marianne Munier‘s beautiful “Dubhe” cable-knit cardigan from the “La Grande Ourse” collection would look like in Pénélope, and we love the result 🙂
This pattern is knitted seamlessly from the top of the back with European-style armholes that highlight the spectacular cable panels on the two fronts of the cardigan. It can be worn open or closed, with a brooch for example, and will easily accompany high-waisted pants like the ones we chose or even a dress for a fancy occasion!
The pattern was written for our Ulysse carded yarn, which gives a warm and lightweight result. Our sample is knitted in our Mérinos d’Arles and silk blend “Pénélope” in the warm and subtle color “or rose” This yarn gives the cables beautiful definition and a beautifully sophisticated drape.

CONSTRUCTION
This pattern is knitted seamlessly from top to bottom: first back and forth for the yoke and lower body, then in the round for the sleeves. It starts by knitting the back yoke, creating the shoulder slope with a series of increases. Then stitches are picked up for the left and right shoulders on each side of the top of the back, also shaped by increases.
The work continues by knitting the front and back together to the bottom of the cardigan.
Once the body is finished, the sleeve stitches are picked up and knitted in the round, and stitches are picked up along the front and back to create the 2/2 rib border.

SKILL LEVEL
This pattern is of medium difficulty and includes some specific techniques such as German short rows, picking up stitches and cables.
