Tomomi Yoshimoto’s creative “Link Sweater” is now available in French :)

Japanese designer Tomomi Yoshimoto @shimashima428, whose ‘Drawing sweater‘ many of you have knitted, has created a highly original new jumper that combines contemporary crochet and knitwear. The pattern comes with different options for the height of the neckline and the embellishment of the hems and cuffs to help you create your favourite version and, why not, imagine a mini-collection of “link sweaters” to wear all year round!

For this light, textured design, Tomomi chose our Ulysse yarn, knitted in a slightly loose gauge with 4.5 mm needles and a gauge of 18.5 sts per 10 cm.

CONSTRUCTION

This sweater is an innovative combination of knit and crochet: the pretty four-leaf clover motif on the yoke, cuffs and turtleneck of some versions is crocheted, while the other parts are knitted.

The construction is rather unique as it begins by crocheting the yoke from bottom to top, while the rest of the body and sleeves are worked top-down, allowing you to try on the sweater while it’s being made and choose the length and type of collar, body hem and cuffs you’d like to make.

You will be able to choose between a ribbed or crocheted hem and cuffs, and a low neckline or a turtleneck, also in stockinette stitch or crochet.

NIVEAU DE DIFFICULTÉ

This pattern is at an advanced level and will require you to master certain basic knitting techniques for garments knitted in the round such as picking up stitches, making German short rows, increasing and decreasing, knitting in the round, binding-off and cable cast-on, as well as knowing the basic crochet stitches (chains, slip stitches, double and treble crochet, crochet bind-off).

The pattern includes detailed step-by-step visual directions to guide you through every stage of the pattern, as well as numerous video tutorials illustrating the specific techniques used.
