It is started from the back, then the fronts are picked up and knitted to the bottom with stitches cast on for the armholes. The sides are then sewn and stitches picked up to finish the sleeves and fronts in twisted rib. The lace turns out to be simpler than its magnificent design would lead you to believe and is worked only on the right side, with intuitive patterns that hold well.
