“My Dream Knits”, Veera Välimäki’s new book !

We are delighted to share with you the beautiful new book by Finnish designer Veera Välimäki @veerarain, which we had the pleasure of contributing to!

My Dream Knits is a collection of 20 enchanting patterns that Veera considers her absolute essentials — timeless favourites made to be worn, lived in and loved for years to come. From airy, pastel-coloured mohair sweaters to relaxed cable cardigans, generous shawls and cosy beanies, this is a collection full of comfort and beauty.

Each of these designs reflects Veera’s talent for combining modernity, style and simplicity, creating garments that are as enjoyable to wear as they are to knit, and to knit again by varying the materials and colours!

You can find details of all the patterns on the Ravelry page of the book My Dream Knits.

Veera kindly chose two of our yarns for her ‘Lina’ and ‘Eva’ designs!

Some knits feel like old friends from the moment you slip them on — easy, familiar, and always comforting. Lina is just that: a simple striped sweater with a soft, relaxed shape, designed to be loved through the seasons.

Lina echoes a classic maritime feel with its rhythmic, crisp lines. Whether you knit it in misty neutrals that remind you of coastal skies or bold contrasts that reflect changing light on the landscape, Lina is the kind of knit that settles into your wardrobe like it was always meant to be there.

Construction:

Lina is a generously sized sweater with modified saddle-shoulder shaping and a generous turtleneck. It’s worked from the top down with simple stripes on the body and the sleeves.

The neckline stitches are picked up last to create the turtleneck, and each hem ends with a tubular bind-off for a neat finish.

Eva is the cardigan I find myself reaching for again and again — when the air turns crisp, when leaves start to fall, or when I just want to feel wrapped in comfort. With its flowing lines, deep ribbed hem, and relaxed shaping, it drapes gently over the shoulders like a soft layer of warmth, keeping me warm and happy.
