The latest issue of Making Stories magazine is out today! The theme of this issue is “Campfire” and it features 13 modern and warm knitting patterns that will be very welcome to warm up the coming months 🙂
The patterns in this issue were created by:
Agata Mackiewicz, Audrey Borrego, Barbara Gottwik, Eimear Earley, Elena Solier Jansà, Elizabeth Nihoniho, Fabienne Gassmann, Hanna Maciejewska, Mara Licole Taylor, Marie Régnier, Natalie Sheldon, Susan Schädler, Thien-Kieu Lam
We were lucky enough to take part in this issue, and you’ll be able to discover the spectacular “Sojourn” scarf by designer Thien Kieu Lam @kieurious in Gilliatt “érable“, all texture and softness!
Thien-Kieu Lam, the designer of this pattern, talks about how she was inspired by the “campfire” theme to create this pattern: “A campfire makes me think of respite in nature: a time to reflect and recharge. Similarly, I think that any sojourn that allows us to step away from routine is an opportunity to emerge with a refreshed heart and perspective.”
The design of this scarf reflects the types of sojourns we might take.
On one side, cables create structured lines, like established city streets or well-worn trails through a forest. The reverse side reveals a more organic motif, like the meandering path of a spontaneous journey. The tapered ends are an acknowledgement that every sojourn has a starting point and a final destination.
Pattern: « Sojourn » by Thien-Kieu Lam, published in English in issue 8 of Making Stories magazine
Yarn: 3 skeins of Gilliatt (French Merino from Arles and Black Portuguese Merino, 250 m / 100g), pictured in « érable»
