Conceived as a fun little project, the pretty Winter’s Fern hat by @trin_annelie , knitted in Gilliatt, was a huge success from the moment it was created and, 10 years later, continues to delight knitters looking for a colorful and quick pattern to keep their ears warm!
Anne has reworked the original instructions and designed a new, very soft version in Ulysse and Bérénice, and we are delighted to offer you this new version in French today 🙂
The Winter’s Fern Hat is knitted in the round with a simple but rewarding colorwork pattern that plays with three colors and is a good introduction to this technique. It’s also the perfect pattern for using up the last of your yarn from a more ambitious project! The pattern is available in a classic short version or a longer version for a slightly slouchy, very comfortable effect.
It is worked bottom-up in the round, with a striped brim for a sporty look and some colorwork on the body.

This pattern is at a beginner to intermediate level: skills required to knit it include Alternating Long-tail CO, increasing and decreasing, knitting in the round, colorwork, following a chart.
