Susanne Müller’s cosy “P1 Sweater” is now available in French!

A sweater that wants to do you good 🙂

As I watch the February rain fall, I am delighted to share with you this lovely collaboration with the talented designer @paulastrickt!

The “P1 sweater” is one of those simple yet beautiful sweaters that you can knit with confidence and pleasure, enveloping you in all the cosy generosity of Gilliatt!

It is knitted seamlessly, starting with a turtleneck collar and continuing with deep raglan sleeves discreetly highlighted by grouped increases that give it a lot of style. The 3/1 rib pattern is repeated on the collar, the edges and along each side of the body.
The model is unisex and available in 9 sizes.

I really enjoyed knitting the one Céline is wearing, which helped me get through the beginning of winter comfortably 🙂

CONSTRUCTION

The sweater is worked seamlessly top down. First, the turtleneck is worked, then the neckline is shaped using short rows (working back and forth). The knitting then continues in the round, increasing on both sides of the raglan sleeves and body. These increases are worked in groups to create an attractive visual detail. Once these increases are complete, the sleeves are separated from the body and the ribbed raglan pattern is continued on the sides of the lower body. A wide ribbed border finishes the body and sleeves. As with the turtleneck collar and cuff borders, a few rows of stockinette stitch add a rolled edge.

TECHNIQUES USED AND SKILL LEVEL

This pattern is for faux-beginners to intermediate learners and will required to know how to knit flat and in the round with circular needles (and on small diameters), German short rows, increases on left and right sides, decreases.

It includes links to video tutorials for specific techniques used.

HOW TO PICK YOUR SIZE

The « P1 sweater » is available in 9 sizes corresponding to the finished measurements:

Chest circumference: 97 (102) 106 (110) 117 (124) 134 (142) 151 cm / 38.2 (40.2) 41.7 (43.3) 46 (48.8) 52.8 (55.9) 59.4”

Total length (mid back, without turtleneck): 51 (54) 56 (57) 59 (61) 63 (65) 68 cm / 20 (21.3) 22 (22.4) 23.2 (24) 24.8 (25.6) 26.8”.

Recommended positive ease: 10 to 20 cm / 4 – 8” at the chest.

To choose your size, you can refer to the chest measurement of the finished sweater, taking into account the ease you desire.

For example, if your bust measurement is 92 cm, you can choose:

  • a size 2 for a positive ease of 10 cm at the chest,

or

  • a size 4 to achieve a comfortable ease of 18 cm at the chest for a result that will be similar to Susanne’s Gilliatt “poivre” sample.

The top-down construction allows you to easily adjust the length of the sleeves and lower body to your preference.

YARN USED

This pattern is designed for worsted weight yarn, resulting in a gauge of 18-19 sts x 27-28 rows. The suggested needle size to achieve this gauge is 4.5 mm. Be sure to swatch carefully and try different needle sizes if needed to achieve the correct gauge.
