Sari Nordlund’s adorable Dido Tee in Candide or Antigone

We are delighted to offer you a French version of the ‘Dido Tee’ designed by Sari Nordlund @sari_n_ to add a touch of elegance and delicacy to your summer outfits!

CONSTRUCTION

Sari kindly chose our Candide yarn for this lightweight top, which combines a modern, seamless construction with intricate lace and cables patterns on the front and upper sleeves.

The tee is started at the back neck and increased to the full width of the back. Then stitches are picked up for the shoulders and worked as the front of the tee. The front and back are joined at the underarm and the body is then worked in the round. The stitches for the sleeves are picked up from the body and the sleeves are worked in the round with a bit of short-row shaping at the sleeve caps to improve the fit. Lastly, stitches for the neckband are picked from the neck opening and worked in ribbing in the round. The neckband, hem and cuffs are finished with a tubular bind off, which provides a beautiful and stretchy edge that looks like the stitches roll over the edge to the other side of the ribbing.

TECHNIQUES USED AND SKILL LEVEL

This pattern is at an intermediate level and will require the ability to cast on and bind off, increase and decrease, knit in the round, pick up stitches, follow a chart for the lace pattern, make cables, German short rows and tubular bind-off (optional).

It includes charts of the motif for each size.

HOW TO PICK YOUR SIZE

The pattern is available in 9 sizes corresponding ton the following final measurements:

Finished bust circumference: 90 (100, 110, 120, 130) (140, 150, 160, 170) cm / 35.5 (39.25, 43.25, 47.25, 51.25) (55, 59, 63, 67) inches. Recommended ease: 15 cm / 6 inches of positive ease.

Length from hem to underarm (adjustable): 33 cm / 13 inches

Sleeve length from cuff to underarm (adjustable): 9 cm / 3.5 inches

Upper arm circumference: 34 (36, 38, 40, 43) (46, 49, 52, 55) cm / 13.25 (14.25, 15, 15.75, 16.75) (18.25, 19.25, 20.5, 21.75) inches

The pattern is designed to be worn with a positive ease of 15 cm / 6 inches: to choose your size, add 15 cm / 6 inches to your chest circumference and choose the closest size of the pattern.

For example, with a 90 cm bust circumference, you could choose to knit the second size with 5 cm of positive ease for a slightly fitted result, or the third size with 15 cm of positive ease for a more relaxed result.

Both the height of the sweater and the length of the sleeves can be extended without difficulty thanks to the top-down construction. Just be sure to allow for a little extra yarn.

YARN CHOICE

This pattern is knitted with a 22 sts x 28 rows gauge which corresponds to a sport weight yarn: Sari chose to knit her sample in our Candide (70% Organic merino d’Arles (France) and 30% recycled cotton ; 185 m / 50 g) in the colorway « nougat ».

Without any changes, you will need 4 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 6, 6, 7) balls of Candide to knit this pattern.

We’ve also tried a version in Antigone which we really like 🙂
