Marianne Munier’s pretty “Zef” summer top in Antigone

We’re delighted to share with you the new “Zef” pattern that designer Marianne Munier has imagined with our Antigone linen yarn to get ready for summer! With its slightly curved V-neckline, clean, modern cut and delicate cross-knit pattern that beautifully highlights the top of the yoke, this is a little top that combines simplicity and elegance, and will be very easy to wear for sunny days, but also all year round under a jacket or cardigan.

Marianne has once again chosen our Antigone yarn, whose definition, drape and discreet shine are perfectly enhanced here by the harmonious fall of the shoulders and the delicate pattern of the yoke worked in symmetry, bringing a great deal of chic to this little top. Antigone is knitted for this pattern with a 24 sts x 32 rows gauge, which gives the stockinette stitch regularity and ensures that the top is not transparent. For our version, we chose the soft silvery pink of the “pivoine” colorway, while Marianne opted for the very light gray of the “lune” colorway for her version.

CONSTRUCTION

Zef is a top knitted seamlessly from top to bottom with a drop-shoulder construction. This construction makes it easy to adjust the measurements of the pattern to your morphology.

It starts by knitting the top of the back, then picking up the stitches at the shoulder to knit the upper part of each half-front, which is worked with a pretty cross-stitch pattern. Short rows are placed in this section to create a pretty shoulder slope. Once the armhole height has been reached, the work is joined in the round to knit the rest of the body. Stitches are picked up from armholes and collar edges and knitted in 1/1 ribbing.

SKILL LEVEL

This pattern features a number of technical elements, such as picking up stitches, short rows and crossed stitches. The cross-stitch pattern is available in charts only (make sure you follow the chart for your size).

The construction of the pattern itself is fairly straightforward, with a high proportion of stockinette stitch. We advise you to be careful with your tension when joining the body, so as to maintain the same swatch between the round-knit and round-knit parts.

Our version is knitted in size 40 with 15 cm of positive ease at the chest and the lower body slightly shortened to 30 cm from the armholes.
