The charming Nia Sweater from @irenelin.knit is now available in French!
We’re delighted to be able to offer French-speaking knitters this pattern, which gracefully combines refined motifs with a modern cut. It’s knitted seamlessly from top to bottom, with beautiful stitchwork that blends lace, small cables and twisted ribbing for a result that’s well worth the effort!
CONSTRUCTION
This sweater is knitted seamlessly from top to bottom. Work begins at the top of the back, knitted flat to the base of the armholes. The stitches of the fronts are then picked up on the cast-on row and the sides of the back. The two fronts are then knitted separately, from top to bottom, up to the middle of the neckline, where the right and left parts of the front are joined. The front is then worked to the armholes and joined with the back: the body is knit in the round to the hem.

The collar is then folded over, picking up stitches around the neckline. The collar stitches are worked in twisted rib until they reach twice the desired final height. These stitches are then folded over by knitting them with the stitches at the base of the inner collar (this technique is described in detail in a video).
Finally, the stitches placed on hold are used to knit the sleeves, which are worked in the round in the same pattern as the body.

TECHNIQUES USED AND SKILL LEVEL
This pattern is at an intermediate to advanced level, and will require you to know how to cast on (Long-Tail cast-on and Backward Loop Cast-On, picking up stitches, lace and cables, tubular Bind off for 1×1 rib (optional). It will require attention but are not particularly difficult to make and are easy to memorize.
The pattern includes written instructions and charts for the motif as well as video links to guide you.
If you’ve knitted this type of construction before, it could be a great challenge to try your hand at this sophisticated version with spectacular results!

YARN CHOICE
This pattern is knitted with a 20 m x 27 rows gauge which corresponds to a worsted yarn.
Irene chose to knit her sample in Gilliatt and we wanted to try a version in Robinson. This gauge also corresponds to Albertine held together with Bérénice using 4.5 mm needles.
Irene’s version in Gilliatt
Irene has knitted her version in Gilliatt “sel” for timeless elegance and easy pairing. The roundness of our favorite yarn enhances the pattern while creating a soft, cozy sweater. A great piece that Irene wears with great chic!
